The Rostra I,iterary Society was organized in IQI4. by a group of boys interested in the art of public speaking. Since its organization, Rostra has maintained its position as one of the outstanding clubs in IVaco High School. The members of Rostra compete with Iforuni in inter- club contests in public speaking, essay writing, declainzl- tion, radio speaking, exteniporaneous speaking, and debate. The winners of the:-e contests win a beautiful walnut and gold trophy, awarded in memory of Stan Slcyles, who was killed in the 1933 tornado. The trophy is currently held by Rostra. Page Ill . The club had a banquet at the Chef in December and a hayride in the spring. Ut course, the main social each year is the inter-club banquet with Forum in IlIa3'.
