Uynthia Miller lVaco High School Chapter of the National Honor Society admits new members twice a year. Pupils of 1 I.-X, i2B, or IZKX standing who haye an A average lop and who have been approved by the faculty on the basis of leadership, seryice, and character are eligible. provided they haye attended lVaco High School for at least Une semester. In Uctober, the fall National Honor Society assembly emphasized American Education YVeek. An initiation ceremony followed the program. There was Ioo'9 par- ticipation of the members for the program. Four spoke on the qualifications for the society while others posed in shadow-box scenes portraying each qualification. The Reverend llaurice Cadwalder was the guest spealier for the sp1'ing assembly prograin. XIV. lf. N. Dennard and llr. fl. R. Downing assisted in the initia- tion of thirty-eight new members. The National Honor Society was well represented in the participation in the National Klerit Scholarship examination which was given in the fall. Two members of the society rated in the top one-half of the top one per cent of thot- taking the examination in Texas. :X project of the Xvaco Chapter is a tutoring service which operates through the guidance office.
