Foruni enahles its nienihers to participate in speaking events. Tfaeh club is trying to win for itself the l orinn-Rostra Trophy now held hy Rostra after last year's contests. 'ho tar this year Contests have heen held in puhlie speaking, essay, deelaniation, and radio reading. The two clubs are now tied with equal victories in the above named Contests. lfxteinporaneous speaking and the all-importzxnt Vane IHS dehate contests will decide the winner. Although Forum is priinarily a debating society, it also considers itself a service club. ln the past school year the cluh helped inan the Salvation Army l-:ettles just before Christmas. Each year the most outstanding Forum senior has his nanie engraved on the llayid E. Wcnotl Hleniorial Trophy, a plaque pureh::sed hy Forum in remenibranee of lllrs. XVood's late husband. The senior whose name appears on the plaque is elected by popular vote of the eluh.

Kay Smith Projects of Forsgard Service Club for 1957-59 were working at the Evangelia Settlement. at the Red Cross, at the Louie Illigel Center. and at the Y. IV. C. A. Illembers also helped with the lluscular Dystrophy Drive. On Halloween Forsgard girls gave a party for the small children at the Evangelia Settlement. At Christmas groups of girls adopted needy families and gave them what assistance was necessary in the way of food, gifts and clothing. During Christmas Forsgard girls collected gifts for teenagers, packaged the gifts, and sent the pack- ages to the Toy Chest for distribution. At the beginning of school, Forsgard sold the tra- ditional YVaco I-Iigh School book covers. In November the club held a cake sale. Ar the end of school Forsgard sold annual covers. In drives around the city, Forsgard helped in the poppy sale and the Illarch of Dimes, assisted the Veterans of Foreign Wzi1's in the sale of forget-me-nots, and helped man the Salvation Army Christmas kettles. The main social event of the year in which Forsgard participated was the I-Iigh I-Iat, given by the Service League. The club also held a Come-as-you-are party for the initiates. The year ended with a banquet. Page 107
