We nominate Mr. Irby Carruth, Superintendent of the Waco Schools, as our Man of the Mid-Century. Six years ago Mr. Carruth came to Waco from Bonham, Where he was Superintendent of Schools. Since his arrival in Waco, he has Worked untiringly to improve our school system. He directed a survey of the Waco schools, the finances of the schools were separated from those of the city government, and a four million dollar bond issue was voted to carry out a much needed .building program. He has been active in school organizations as is evidenced by the fact that he is a past president of the North Texas Association of School Administrators and of the Texas Association of School Administrators, and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Association of School Administrators. Besides his activities as a school man, Mr. Carruth has found time to take part in the life of his community. He is a past president of the Rotary Club, a director of the Boy Scouts and of the Y. M. C. A., and a member of the Waco Chamber of Commerce. As Man of the Mid-Century, Mr. Carruth, the IQSO Senior Classes dedicate this volume of the Daisy Chain to you in appreciation for what you have meant to our schools and to us.

Crews THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES The Board of Trustees works faithfully without remuneration to provide the best possible free education for the children of VVac0. This year they are engaged in a doubly hard task- that of carefully spending the 54,000,000 which was voted for a building program for the schools. This task is in most capable hands, for these men are extremely efficient and trustworthy. The VVaco High School student body is indebted to these men who take time from their businesses to serve our schools. Now serving as school trustees are Prof. Neil S.
