Uyaro 5,f'II,II.X'IlllHCl1Z-F 0 As usual, Waco ran away with the perenially weak Waxahachie Indians. VVaeo scored 28 points in the first half and 26 the last. The Indians made their only score a few seconds before the end of the first half, when one of their players in- tercepted a passron lqiseown 8 and ran Q2 yards for ft pseore. VVaeo looked strong in this game, but at the time it wasydiiii- cult to tellswhether. this wasefndicative of Tiger strength of lndian weakness. e Uvuco 53-H1'ff.rI10ro 0 l-lillsboro, ateamp with a weak offense but with a reputedly strong defense, was the Tigers' next vietim. The Tigers shat- tered the defense myth in what proved to be one of the worst debacles suffered by an liagle team in many years. In this game, VVaco continued the march of touchdowns which was later to earn it the pseudonymn of the highest scoring team in Texas . livery one of the Tigers here looked like a star, but what most en- LIlllfI01XK' flll7'fllItif'. spectacular power, finally scoring a touch- down from the I8 yard line on a run by Bob Burke. VVaco had the wind against it in the third quarter and had to tight desperately to stave oiif several Corpus drives, one even penetrating the Tiger 5 yard line. Late in the period the Tigers started moving again. Starting from their own go, they drove down the held on a succession of running plays for a touch- down, in spite of one fumble that cost them zo yards. On the kickoff following this score, Corpus fumbled and VVaco took over on the Bur's I7 yard line. From here the Tigers scored their final touch- down in four plays, and the Corpus de- bacle was complete. Post was outstanding at end and Pulattie, Burke, and Bowen did well in the backlield. The Tigers literally beat the great Corpus team into the dirt by sheer power, and one of the finest ex- hibitions of blocking ever turned in by a VVaco High team. But the game was a prime example of the results of the coach- ing genius of Paul Tyson, whose clever, tricky plays were directly responsible for at least two Tiger scores. MR. E. A. BERNHALSEN ilssirtzozl Corzrlz One result of the game that cannot be over-emphasized was the fact that against Corpus, the Tigers found a winning com- bination. VVaco, however, prov- ed itself no close second, but a strong first by beating the vaunted Navarro County aggregation on its home lot by the de- cisive score of 27 to 7. Early in the hrst quarter VVaco took the ball on its own 30 and, aided by a strong wind, pushed the Corsicana line back, back, back, until it was finally stop- ped on the Corsicana I foot line. This, however, didn't end the threat, for Bowen returned the kick out to the Corsicana I3 on a beautiful run. ln four plays the Tigers scored. Then, late in the period, VVaco got the ball on the Corsi ZQ and drove on a succession straight to a touch- down, with Bowen and Pulattie galloping Pulaftic skirts H1'friv11r'i1lgc right mul.
