S S SSXSSXSXSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSNS' SSSNSSXNSSNSSSSSSXSS l TI-IE DAISY CHAIN PROPHECY Waco, Texas, Nov. IO, I934 Dearest Lorena: I have just heard that you have finished your study of music in Europe and will soon be home. You must be home by February I, for the l923 class is going to have a reunion. Oh, this is from Georgia Handley, our old class president, now Mrs. Prentice Rice. Prentice has made a great success in banking, and I am sure they are happy. I'll leave on the next ship. At the last summons I hurried on board, and who should be the Hrst person my eyes fell on but Captain Donald Wilkins. I learned from Donald that Bobbie joe I-Iope, Ruth Pearce and Mary Markusfeld were on their way home after having been engaged in Red Cross work. VVe landed in New York on a rainy Friday, December I3. In the lobby of the hotel we noticed that an excited crowd was gathered around a distinguished looking gentleman. Cn inquiring, we found him to be Sunshine Gilmore, the author of the best book in circulation. Sun- shine in his old enthusiastic way joined our band. Vife decided to spend a few days in New York. The next evening two famous stars were to sing at the I-Iippodrome. To our great sur- prise and pleasure we found them to be our old classmates Josephine Kemendo and Minnie Durham. They decided to go to the reunion with us. Our next pleasure trip was to Coney Island. We laid aside our dignity for one short day and became kids. Our first joy ride was on the hobby-horses. A gruff voice demanded our tickets, but instead of giving him our tickets, we shook hands with Bertram jackson. Hearing a call Get 'em while they're hot, boys, we had a longing for some hamburgers. Approaching the stand, we saw the familiar faces of our class twins, Ross and Roy Stanley. En route to Waco we stopped in California. There we saw a beautiful building and later discovered that it was the Bryan Aynesworth Hospital. Reading the San Francisco Times, we noticed that B. D. Reynolds was planning a trip to South America to further his study of Civil Engin- eering. Another item told that Miss Helen Morgan was voted the most beautiful girl in Hollywood and we were not surprised to learn that Wil- liam Schroeder was doing his best to get in the movies, These four being added to our crowd, we started for our Old Home Town. While we were waiting for the train to start, a jolly face peered through the window. It was Professor D. Stovall, and he, too, was going to the reunion.
