SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE TO THE CLASS OF 1979 We all look back on the things you have learned and or the things we have tried to teach over the last few years. Many of us see gaps. There are gaps in areas where adults and employ¬ ees feel you should be knowledgeable (like checkbooks, loans, parenting) but you, having had no immediate need for the information, couldn’t have cared less. I’m sure that schools will return in the near future to con¬ centrating more on what the society feels our younger citizens need in the future and concentrating less on what the young people feel that they need or want now. But in the meantime, your education, broadly speaking, may have significant gaps. You have an immediate reason to be a continuing learner in practical, wordly concerns. The current statistics on overex¬ tended credit, on divorce, and on wife and child beating show this clearly. I can only wish for you that as you increase in maturity, you respect what you don’t know, that you take steps to learn before you leap. Your basic studies here will provide a solid foundation, but you need to continue to build. You stand a far better chance of being in control, of your career, of your finances, of your emotions, and, if it applies, of your marriage and your children — if you plan and build thoughtfully. God love you. Edward P. Yaglou WILLIAM CAREY, Assistant Superintendent ADMINISTRATION DR. EDWARD YAGLOU, Superintendent PETER FARRELLY, Associate Superintendent 18

HAROLD LANE, Principal MICHAEL PREGOT, Assistant Principal BERNARD TREMBLAY, Assistant Principal PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Dear Members of the Class of 1979, A yearbook is a window to the past — a kaleidoscope of per¬ sonalities and events and activities. It is, of course, not a com¬ plete record of your high school years, but if done well, is an entree to a multitude of memories and remembered friend¬ ships. You are a member of the class that closes out the first twenty-five years in the history of your high school. Yours is a special class in many ways! Your record of achievement as a class stands up well with the classes that went before and will be a challenge to those who follow. As with all groups you also are made up of individual achievements and disappointments. My hope for each of you individually is that you will forge for yourselves a life rich in happiness and personal satisfaction. I hope that the years spent at Wachusett will contribute to your future in many pos¬ itive ways and that, as the years pass, your memories of these years will gain in luster and meaning. A yearbook allows us to stand still and look both backwards and forwards! It is my sincere wish that, in your backwards glance, you will remember those who stood beside you — your parents, your teachers, your friends — and that, as you look forward to the future, you will have the kind of memories of the past that will make your future endeavors even more meaningful and productive. My best to all of you in whatever you undertake. Keep in touch. Sincerely, JANE MOULTON, Assistant Principal 19
