Dear Editor, I think you should do an article on student depression in the Wach- usett regional area not only in high school but at the junior high. Wp teens have more troubles today than ever before. So far two people in one week have committed suicide, and more young people may follow if something isn’t done. I think all the members of guidance, the fa¬ culty, and the student body should get together and figure these pro¬ blems out. From some of my friends I hear that most problems 1. People always cutting them down. 2. Not ever anything to do. 3. The school is not one but many different groups like jerks, freaks, and middle men. 4. No Spirit. 5. Parent troubles. 6. Can’t concentrate in such a rest¬ less school. All of us want help and something done about name-calling and separa¬ tion. Suicide preventionist DANCE CONCERT HELD Two exciting evenings were en¬ joyed at Wachusett when the Dance Concert group presented “The Age of Dance’’ on March 21 and 22. Directed and choreographed by Miss Mary Wanamaker, the group had many high spots, “Age of Aquarius” and the finale, “On a Carousel” be¬ ing outstanding. Costumes were colorful and crea- Dear Gabby, My problem is this school.. It’s so boring. I get good marks but my social life has alot to be desired. I can’t stand how everyone cuts every¬ one down, and how we are not one school but divided into two; the jerks and the big shots, and the freaks. I’m really depressed. I need help and hope you can give me a sensible answer. Sincerely, Super Freak P.S.S. Please print so maybe there’ll get the idea? Dear Super Freak, Do you think this school is made on only jerks and freaks? I hope not. Many students would not like to be put down that way by you. If you do get good marks, it shows that you are capable of doing things. Why don’t you get involved in some activity? There are plenty that might interest you especially at this time of year. It does not however have to do with the school. The towns have both spring and summer activities which night interest you. Another suggestion might be to change the group that you hang around with. Get outside your “gang” and see the people. Everyone is different and you just need to know a track star or a football player or a member of the spring musical cast. There are some (alot) of great kids at WRHS which do not fall into your groups. Hope I’ve helped. Gabby PIE EATING CONTEST TREMENDOUS SUCCESS In spring, The Wachusett Swim Team held a fund raising event, a Pie Eating Contest. Although the pie eating contest eventually turned into a pie hurling contest, three teams did manage to finish. The Teacher-Student team of Mr. Corna- chiolli and Charlie Gove were first, followed closely by the Student team of Bill Green and Brad Couni- han and the Teacher team of Mr. Leonard and Mr. Rasku. The con¬ test raised $130 for the Swim Tearn The Swim Team who participated in the contest were Superintendents Mr. Yaglou and Mr. Farrelly, the champion pie hurling team of Jim Hunt and Rick Vanasse, as well as those who paid admission. And Mrs. Linda Radimer, this year ' s ad¬ visor to the swim team.
