Massachusetts m Great pride is taken in bestowing this dedi¬ cation, our greatest honor, on a man who has devoted so many years of his life to developing and guiding young minds, for¬ merly-as a teacher and principal, and now as our guidance counselor. Service to others, both in the community and in the school, has been the keystone of his life to the extent that he has come to be loved and revered by all who know him. We, the senior class of 1961, dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Edmund D. Kelsey. mmm s mm rmm mmm mm - - ; mm smmWM 2££em WACHUSETT REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL HOLDEN, MASSACHUSETTS To the Members of the Class of 1961: As you graduate from Wachusett Regional High School, all oui best wishes go with you. Whether you enter industry or the armed services, go on to institutions of higher learning or become a housewife, you should be better fitted for the future because of your years here. We are proud of this school as, without a doubt, you are. I a few short years Wachusett Regional High School has risen from a dream to a place of eminence among the secondary institutions of this country. We have an excellent reputation wherever we are known. May this yearbook, with its pictures and data, long be a cherished memento of four happy and profitable years at Wachusett Regional High School. Best of luck to you all. Neal T. SkillingsT Principal MRS. SHIRLEY E. BJORNLUND MRS. PEARL 6 Zeam ei .L ul-W- . JL Charles N. LaPrade Assistant Principal ■ MRS. ELIZABETH N. t. Best wishes to all. 7 (Jiddatice MRS. BARBARA P. DUGGAN Secretary MISS DORIS G. GUERTIN MR. CHARLES W. BARTLETT MR. EDMUND D. KELSEY MR. CHARLES W. BARTLETT Guidance Director We wish to extend to you a most cordial invita¬ tion to continue to use our guidance services. We are sincerely interested in your careers and hope you will keep us informed as to your progress. We will contact you in five years and we hope you will welcome our follow-up service. In the meantime please feel free to write or visit us. Very best wishes for your success in the future. Sincerely, Director, Guidance Department _ Standing. L. to R.: Mr. Neal T. Lionett, Treasurer; Mr. Nelson M. Calkins, Jr., Secretary; Mr. Byron S. Davis, Chair man; Dr. Charles L. Bowlby; Mrs. C. Wesley Dingman, Vice Chairman; Mrs. Yvette Childs. Superintendent Some two thousand years ago, a man unknown wrote a message which should become part of the philosophy of each graduate of the class of 1961. It expresses any message I might wish to convey to you far better than I am able to word it. Look to this day, for it is life. In its brief course lie all the verities and realities of your existence; the bliss of growth, the glory of action, the splendor of beauty. For yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision; but today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happi¬ ness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day, such is the salutation of the dawn.”—from the Sanskrit. Sincerely, Dr. Charles L. Bowlby School Committee DR. CHARLES L. History of the Long ago and far away, in the never- never land of Holden, there dwelt a superior race of people. They were known as the class of 1961. Being the chosen race, they were destined for the : BEST OF EVERYTHING. They began their illustrious career with four years at Wachusett Regional High School, and their record is such that it is aim too splendid to put on mere pap ' pages. Their deeds are deserving of a ver sheets, lovingly etched upon with pen dipped in gold. But, here, for t ' eyes of mortals, is the heaven-touche ' star-gilded, history of the class of 1961 . The first duty the chosen people formed was to elect officers to them on to deeds consistent wit ' great capabilities. Entrusted with this heavenly duty were Ronnie President; Diane Briggs, Vicb-presi ' Marsha Forrester, Tr surej BTcT Jeanne Gibson, Secretar f QS-Student Council were Mark warn, I cggy Lorenz, Linda Wall, and Georgia Washburn. The class went their star- studded way, joining activities, partici¬ pating in sports, and, in general, mak¬ ing Wachusett a better place in which to go to school. Thus the chosen people spent the first quarter of their Wachusett career. To lead them in their SOPHOMORE 1 |? year, they chose Bruce DeWalt, Presi- Vice-president Marsha ForresteiJWbasurer; and Jeanne Gibson, Council r Secretary )n the ident Peggy Lorenz, Linda were Georgia Washburn, Wall, and Chris Castendyke. They continued travelin n the silver pages, writing their own :■ ' ' ■ , . , .. titing history. Not only did they lead ! lubs and have members in every type of varsity sport liant and bea Marsha Forrester and Becky DeWalt igner, le ivj y Queen’s Court. The Student Council members were Georgia Washburn, Linda Wall, Sonja Oker- ✓ 52 ' lass of 1961 strom, and Jeanne Gibson. This year, like the other three, showed that the Agricultural Department, too, could hold its own. Ably headed by Robert Johnson, the members of this rtment left Mr. Warren and Mr. th the feeling that never th ?re be such first rate s as those in the Class of Gribouski again would future farm 1961. Holding high their track and cross¬ country reputation was John Pape, who his time making records, only to break them the next chance he got. Scholastically, too, the class of 1961 was not to be outdone. John Najemy, a member of the class, went to Italy as the first foreign exchange student from Wachusett. In turn the chosen people entertained Retsu Bon” Miura from Japan as a member of their class. The most stupendous feat of all was their Senior Play. It can never be equaled. Again, the chosen people bor- - rowgd the theme from heaven. Almost 1 the whole Senior class participated in the production of this Negro fable. Green Pastures will long live in the memories of its cast, production crew, boc rt, these chosen people were benefit to Wachusett. The i nderclas m h, especially the freshmen, 3 Uld be grateful for the presence of iss f enri 1961, and feel themselves :hed by the experience. It is only fitting and proper to preserve their record forever for all to see, for its heavenly magnificence can never be emulated. Prophecy , Characters: Angels Time: 2100 A.D.
