Because we are the first students in Massachusetts to spend our entire four years at a regional high school, we have given our yearbook a theme that we think is significant of this. We chose The Successful Experiment because we feel that our class has proven the success of the idea of a regional school. In 1949, representatives from five towns met and decided to take the step that has come to mean so much to all of us. Holden, Princeton, Paxton, Rutland, and Sterling, with a great deal of courage and originality, decided to introduce an entirely new educational system. Thus, Wachusett Regional High School was bom. No one knew what the outcome of this daring plan would be. Would the students from the different towns get to know and like one another, or would they stay in their own groups? Would the competition between the five towns be too great? Today, be¬ cause of the caliber of the education we have received and the number and depth of friendships we have formed, we feel that the experiment was more than successful. Therefore, our class, the Class of 1958, is very proud to be a part of The Successful Experiment.
