SHIRLEY IRENE ARLIN Who can be wise, amazed, temperate and furious, loyal, and neutral in a moment? Shirl ' s bubbling personality is well known to all of us. She ' s just full of that zest for life. Always cheerful, generous, and interested in everything, she makes a wonderful companion. Her acting ability is a great asset to our class. We wish her the best of luck in a teaching career. JEAN ALICE BACKSTROM A horse! a horse! my kingdom for a horse! Jean ' s favorite pastime is reading books on animals and riding horses. STEWART OTIS BAILEY A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the best of men. Stew is a carefree and fun-loving senior. His wit and friendliness have won him a score of friends during these four short years. With a twinkling bit of devil in his eyes and a cheery laugh, he makes lasting friends. Football 1, 2, 3; Intramural Club 1, 2, 3, 4; Monitor 4; Track 2; Varsity Club 3, 4. ROBERT WILLIAM BARR JR. Reason is not measured by size or by height, but by principle. Bob is small of stature and yet is one of the biggest assets to the Senior Class. He ' s of invaluable assistance on the gridiron and handles his assignments as only Bob Barr could. In his sophomore and junior years. Bob was manager of the baseball team and undoubtedly helped the Mountaineers ' ' to a proud record. We needn ' t fear for the wildlife in the forests much longer for Bob intends to go into wildlife management. He will certainly make an important place for himself there. Tall, dark, and handsome—that ' s Bob Baxter. He ' s the kind of person that every class needs. Bob ' s helpful and yet he ' s often so quiet that you don ' t realize he ' s around. Mountain climbing seems to be his most interesting hobby, and then boating and skating. Bob intends to go to a junior college and later on become a pilot in the Navy. Lots of luck, Bob. Intramural Football 3, 4; Yearbook Staff 4. CHARLES FRANCIS BELANGER Silence is more eloquent than words. Chuck is a person who would be an asset to any class. He ' s so quiet that you never know he ' s around, but he ' s always there when you need him. His ability to solve math problems is astounding. Aviation and weather stand out as the most important of his manv hobbies. Chuck intends to go to a technical college, and we all know he will succeed at anything he attempts in the field of science. KATHLEEN ANN BELLROSE Her ways are those of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. Kathy is the pert little miss who is everyone ' s friend. She has been a great asset to the majorette squad and a very reliable member of the class. She enjoys sports and likes to dance. The State Mutual Life Assurance Company will surely welcome her. LINDA JANE BENSON There is nothing in the world so contagious as laughter. Benny , witty and vivacious, makes her own fun wherever she goes. One of Linda ' s hobbies is her great love of horses. We know whatever paths Linda ' s future leads her to, there will be smiles along the way. Linda ' s patients will recuperate fast under her care. Helen ' s ready smile and warm spirit are always available and somehow they always seem to cheer one up. Her congeniality and willingness to help others make her a wonderful pal. And oh! Those big blue eyes! We know that Helen will be a success at whatever she chooses to do. ROGER WALTER BOHN What care I when I can rest, kill time and take life at its best. Roger has sometimes been referred to as the Mad Electrician for his home is full of electrical gadgets that are hooked up to a central switchboard in h : s room. We will all remember the excellent job he has done as bass drummer in the Band. Roger plans to attend a four year technical school and later work in an engineering firm. We wish him the best of luck, knowing that if past performances foretell the future, Roger will succeed at all that he does.
