Class Mis lory I think it ' s time to look through my bookcase again. If has been a long time since I browsed through the pages of my old books. Let ' s see now, Dickens, Longfellow . . . what is this hidden behind my volumes of Shakespeare? Why It ' s the history of the Class of 1956, Wachusett Regional High School. What fun If will be to look back on my high-school years! N September 8, 1954, our new adventure began. We entered the new high school, which we all had watched grow from a skeleton of bare steel and concrete to a beautiful, modern school building. All one hundred and sixty-three of us were completely lost for the first few weeks, running from one end of the build- ing to the other in order to find our classes on time. We discovered that everyone was having the same problem, so we had some consolation. It wasn ' t long be- fore classes began to run smoothly as we became accustomed to the routine. Before long, football was in full swing. Now we had a chance to develop our school spirit by cheering for our team. Tryouts for cheerleaders were held, and in the final selection one of our junior girls, Lois Sargent, was chosen a mem- ber of the cheerleading squad, with Barbara Anderson and June McGuiggan as alternates. They helped the team to a successful season. Some of the junior boys who made the team were Charles Darling, Joel Decker, Meivyn Gray, Harold Lane, Robert Miles, and Harry Taylor. While the football team was achieving success, the hockey team was also making a good record. This was due partly to the fact that our own Connie Baker, Sally Fletcher, Joan Forsell, Beverly Johnson, Shirley Johnson, and Eleanor Reed served on the varsity. As soon as we had become acquainted with most of our classmates, elections for class officers were held. The procedure included the filing of nomination papers, campaigning, the holding of primaries, and the final voting. We elected as president, Robert Miles; vice-president, Harry Taylor; secretary, Beverly Johnson; and treasurer, Ronald Fournier. Our ad- visors were Mrs. Olson, Mr. Eaton, and Mr. Menard. Next our thoughts turned to basket- ball. Joel Decker, Stephen Howe, and James Wright were our stars on the varsity team. Sally Fletcher, Joan Forsell, Beverly Johnson, and Shirley Johnson were our
