It started with coronation on Saturday, Sept. 29. Queen Bonnie and King Todd reigned over spirit weak. The activities of spirit week started with hat and shade day on Monday.Tues- day was grub day when we enjoyed the powder puff football game with the iunior freshman team topping the senior sophomore team. Flowers, stripes, and plaids all went very well together because Wednes- day was mix and unmatch day. Thursday, impersona- tion day, we got a chance to meet the Fruit of the Loom Gang, KISS, The Incredible Hulk, and many others. Also, students from each class got very close when they took part in the toothpick race. The seniors were the victors. Thursday evening,a community pepfest was held with everyone, including parents, taking part in the cheers. After the pep- fest, students followed the cheer leaders in a snake- dance that zigzagged uptown and back. On the day of the big game. students participated in a rope pull. Once again the seniors were the champions. On Friday evening our pIayers played a good game, but their tough opponent, Winthrop.went home with the victory. To end our homecoming week, a dance was held after the game with Cisco Grove providing the music. 1. ’9?9 WHS Royalty-Queen Bonnie Dolan and King Todd A1termat t. ?. Tyv irlers Around and Around The 1979-80 twirlers have practiced long hours this year to make their routines a super success. Besides entertaining the fans during football, bas- ketball, and wrestling halftimes, they also spend hot summer days twirling for parades with the con- cert band. One of their most memorable routines was done on their last performance. At this performance they used special outfits and a new twist in their twirling. Many people commented on their wonderful performance that night and throughout the whole year. WHS would like to congratulate you on a job well done! I. Annual Staff Workshop Composing the yearbook isn't as easy as just writing articles. The annual staff, es- pecially editors Carol Price and Val Pistulka, compiled an infinite number of hours making layouts, choosing pictures, writing articles, and organizing the very best annual for you. Therefore, the editorial staff of the Rabbit Tracks decided to use paper of a lesser quality and charge 25 a copy. Merely writing stories isn't the only job of the newspaper staff. The stories must be checked for accuracy and often typed twice to get even margins. The typing alone takes approximately 18 hours with another eight hours for laying out the pages. In spite of this, the Rabbit Tracks staff manages to turn out a good paper every time. I. Rabbit Tracks Editorial Staff-Rowl:J.Louwagie. Row 2: L. Satmela, J.lensing, G.Bernardy. NP- C. RohIi k. 2. National and State Convention, and their an- nual banquet. This year's coronation of FFA Sweetheart was held at the dance rather than at the banquet. Jean Knott gave her crown up to her sister Jill KNott. Gordy Bernardy and Mark Salfer were elected to go to National Convention in Kansas City to attend meetings and other FFA related sessions. Four teams attended the state convention. They were dairy, dairy products, horticulture, and poultry. Each team judged individually and attended sessions on safety and other topics to help improve the FFA chapter. Bus Patrol Peace Makers It's a difficult job being responsible for the safety of many passengers in a large vehicle but the bus patrols have proved to be worthy and responsible for the job they have taken on. Their effort and time have been greatly appreciated by those students who ride the bus. 1. Bus Patrol-Row 1: G.Jenniges, S.Frericks, B. Mertens. Row 2: S.Kropp, L. Jenniges, C. Wagner, B. Going home at last! A. Taking control! o Band Strike Up The Band The WHS Concert Band had a fine year! Along with preparing concert music, they lifted spirits with pep music at pepfests and sports events. During the winter, a new fund raiser in the form of a popcorn sale was undertaken to keep the spir- it popping. With the coming of spring, the Music Parents cooked up their annual bake sale to raise funds. Wabasso was the host school for the large group contest in which the band earned a star rating! The Pops Concert carried the audience back in time with the theme of Broadway . Toward the end of the year, the seniors took their trip to Chanhassen to see Carousel. 1.
