Led by some outstanding single performances, W-K pushed its way to a third place finish in the everrtough HV L conference. The volleyballers lost a tough one but the Gridders had no trouble in overcoming their foe! When all was done it was agreed that truely 'We May Never Past This Way Again'. Highlighted by an overtime game with last year's state participant K-M, the girls tallied a few more in the win column. One Act Play Star Spangled Girl The One-Act troupe got into comedy this year with the staging of Neal Simon's story of an All-American girls conflict with two second-rate newspaper publishers. The youthful group was led by only four seniors and an improving bunch of juniors. The season was highlighted by a victory over Lourdes and increasing success at the district level. Wilson doing the hustle in the I.M.C. 49 The Musical The Music Man Meredith Willson's story of the Music Man traveled from its small-town Iowan setting to a stage in small-town Minnesota. The W-K drama department put on the musical May 6th and 7th, with Jay Scott as Harold Hill, the conniving con-man, and Leslie Martin as Marian Paroo, the town's librarian. ABOVE: J. Koenig Golf The 76 crop of choppers showed much improvement over previous years teams. The boys took many fifth and seventh place finished in conference meets. The lone senior varsity member, John Earney, advanced to regions to finish the season out strong. Members of the team are as follows: John Earney, Mark Doty, Matt Abbott, Curt Root, Mike Irons, John Koenig, Mark Walter, Jim Hammer, Mike Greenheck, Don Mansmith, Kathy Schuth, Pete Greenheck, Jeff Fosmo. The Boxscore Boys This years team fielded one of the most experienced teams in recent years. The squad boasted many four-year letter winners with a strong class of players down through the ranks. For Every One Wabasha-Kellogg track took on a co-educational look this year, as they competed in many meets together. The ransk of both teams were composed mainly of underclassmen, insuring the success for future years. The girls pulled early victories at Winona, Lake City and Durand in events such as hurdles, shot, mile, high jump, half mile, and the relay teams, whereas the boys were successful in events such as the mile, the hundred yard dash, one of their relays and the two mile. School records were broken by both teams this year, the girls in the two mile, the 110 and 180 yard hurdles, 220 yard dash, the 440 run, 880 run, the mile, 880 relay, mile relay and shot put. The boys broke school records in the mile, and the two mile. M.V.P.'s this year were Lori Hartert, who also received the award last year in track, and Jerry McMillan, who was also Cross Country M.V.P. and voted by the coaches as athlete of year. 1ST ROW: J.
