Tom Butler presents the reigning Sweetheart, Connie Phebus. Vets Club Chooses Sweetheart At Their Thanksgiving Dance Thanksgiving Eve found the Wabash Valley College students at V.F.W. Post 4276 dancing away their tensions after an arduous Fall Quarter. The occasion was the First Veterans Organization Sweetheart Dance. From all the young women at the dance, the Vets chose Miss Connie Phebus to reign as their first Sweetheart for the remainder of the school year. She received a crown, a bouquet of roses, and a congrat- ulatory kiss from several eager club members. John Brown’s body wails out. 119

Guide Charles Bundy introduces the resident psychologist. Mrs. Goldstein welcomes a class in the receiving room of Evansville State Hospital. Mr. Shaw leads a group of students toward the entrance of A. F. Bowen Children’s Center. Psychology Students Learn By Observing Mr. Shaw’s psychology classes observed the residents and the facilities at three different institutions this year. Warren G. Murray at Centralia, Illinois and A. L. Bowen at Harrisburg, Illinois are State Centers for Mentally Retarded Children. Evansville State Hospital is an institution for the mentally disturbed, serving Southern Indiana. Capable personnel at each institu- tion briefed the class and guided them on a tour of the facilities. 12]
