The banner team and varsity cheerleaders are up and down. Homecoming Despite the early morning time and the absence of Mr. Blackmon the Spartans showed their spirit at the Homecoming pep assembly. New and old Spartans alike attended the 7:40 a.m. assembly. Renee Manes thought, They should have had it during the day because more people would have been there. Because of the closeness of Halloween, the Starlets dressed up in costumes and performed a routine to Ghostbusters The cheerleaders and banner team 22 Life The varsity football team splashes out on the field at the Skyline game. brings changes decorated the auditorium with posters, banners, and blue and gold streamers to add to the spirit. The spirit paid off as the Spartans took a rain soaked 7- 0 Homecoming victory over the Skyline Raiders. After the assembly the halls and classrooms were filled with bells and bows. The traditional mums could be seen everywhere. The spirit con- tinued all day because the Blue Jackets had the halls decorated with tags, streamers, balloons, and most of all, spirit. Homecoming queen Rain accompanied the Homecoming queen and her court as they were presented on October 26th at the Skyline game. The Homecoming Queen, Kim Pitts, was announced at a pre game show instead of the usual assembly. The court was escorted onto the field by their fathers. Melissa Dorrough, a member of the senior court, felt that lt was okay having the presentation at the game. It would have been better without the rain, but personally I prefer Mr James Pitts is proud of his daughter Kim. 24 Life rains the assembly. Each grade chose two girls to represent their class except for the senior class who chose five girls that were nominated for Homecoming queen. These five Hope Haynes, Dara Hicks, Melissa Dorrough, Kim Pitts and Verita James were selected by the senior class. The queen and her senior court were then selected by the student body. Kim Pitts felt Very honored to be chosen by the student body as their Homecoming Queen. Dedrick Williams escorts senior Hope Haynes. Paul Donaldson escorts senior queen Kim! Pitts.
