Deaf Winter Carnival Dance A dance sponsored by the Samuell Deaf Education Department was held November 3, from 7:30 to 11:00. It was reported that a little over one hundred were in attendance. Neall Raney, a student at Samuell, did a mime routine to two songs - In the Navy, assisted by the Deaf Cheerleaders in the background, and YMCA, assisted by the football players. Connie Smith sang and also visually interpreted the lyrics to Go Ye. The Deaf King and Queen were announced during the course of the festivities. Steve Wanderscheid was crowned King and Marsha Smith as Queen. Steve Darr and Mary Ann Hawkins boogie to the beat. f fi .. ag e .. 'f- Q -:riff KF , Michele Steele and Rita Duran rehearse a skit for the dance. Nick Silva provides music for the dance. Michael Walker shows his impression of Freak Out. CHRISTMAS AT SAMUELL Susie Thomas, one of Santa's helpers, was found putting up the tree. Cheerleaders join in with the other clubs in decorating for Christmas. Deaf Cheerleaders and pep club proved their talents at Christmas decorating. The Freshman Choir spread their Christmas spirit at the assembly. Spirit and cheer filled the air at Christmastime. The halls were decorated with snowflakes, Santas and Angels. The Student Council held a hall decorating contest for all the clubs. The fine arts department helped to get everyone in the Christmas spirit by presenting a Christmas assembly. The assembly included such groups as the freshman choir, girls' treble choir, and the concert choir. The stage band participated in the assembly as well as the orchestra. The students at Samuell had a Merry Christmas. Chuck Hesson and Teresa McClendon of the JESTERS! sing out in the Christmas Assembly.
