The strong running of Bob Prible and the fine quarterbacking of Mike Goldberger sparked the Ram of- fense througout the season. The defensive team did par- ticularly well with senior Chuck Marson leading the charge. The team compiled an impressive record of 6-2, losing to only Hicksville and Berner. The Berner loss was especially heartbreaking since the final gun sounded as the Rams were trailing by only one point. Marking their outstanding achievement, Mike Gold- berger, Bob Prible, Frank Lansner, and Guy Hanscom were elected to an All-League team. Chuck Marson, who played particularly well, was picked for the All-County 2nd Team. All in all, it was a great season. 107 CHEERLEADERS Top row: Mrs. Dolce, M. Fogelman, A. Beck. S. Mon tan ye, R. Losing four starters to graduation, the Rams had a great rebuilding job ahead of them. The team had four straight victories at the start of the season, but the breaks seemed to go against Clarke as the Rams failed to sink the crucial shots in their league contest. Dave Manes had the hot scoring hand for most of the season, while Ken Tobin leaped for rebounds, and Mike Goldberger did an outstanding job calling the plays and working the backcourt. The Rams finished the season with an unimpressive 5-13 record, which is not indicative of the many close contests and the good play on the part of the Clarke five. Ill VOLLEYBALL TEAM Row 1: P. Didn’t think I’d really do it, did 'ya? Well, I’ve arrived. Of course not all of me has made it. Part of me was left in high school. The part that giggled, whined, and snubbed. The phony. The blind. The part of me that accepted without thinking. That’s disappeared. So the best parts of me survived. And here I am. Now. Today. I’m a graduate. I've stopped the stupid stuff and I’m starting to live. MISS JUDITH CURTIN MISS JANE COLGROVE 158 MISS JOAN CASE MISS MADELINE COBES Chairman TEN YEARS 159 Chapter One: The beginning A massive portfolio of architect's drawings and Va” scale models, building contracts and landscaping plans, men’s ideas and reality's compromises. 161 Chapter Two: The numbers 1 0 years of bells ringing at 8:08 and 2:36. 1 0 years of cramming and day-dreaming in study halls, of sweat, and showers and singing in locker rooms, of pushing, and tearing and litter in the halls. 10 years of different people — 17,000 different people — all individual and all the same. A day-dreamer ten years ago — a lawyer now. An insolent trespasser caught by the hall patrol . . . What year? Which person? Who counts? Who cares? We are members of a nebulous brotherhood transcending religion and economic level And, as each of us has contributed something to and derived something from our common parent, There is something of each of us in every other one of us. Chapter Three: The dedication To those who have tramped through these endless halls before us, To those teachers who have made the journey worthwhile, To the cartographers who have allowed our journeys to intersect those of others, To them, and to ourselves, do we dedicate this volume. , iw«m«v • f iKElTH (fc V y .tl ll ooomMO'll'a 7 o ‘ . - t LLE N : wo 4 . aii L •••• WOH'wv' X f Q? «- Ati u ULP «U ■ rvAlO fw W' S ..........AG.A1 5 ! v -■s'” i'' « 1,ff ’' I— -v '• K 9l x -W'y '• TjrJVa -.Sofs te WStweI ri. Congratulations and Best Wishes to the Class of 1968 From THE CLARKETTES AND THE TWIRLERS We are the bunch at 504 No one worked less, no one played more We hope that all appreciate The heartfelt efforts of D-8. The homeroom's great intelligence Was sparked by two ingenious gents, With Michael Quinn and Gary P. Achievement reached its apogee. As Pogoloff, the President, Likes to express our sentiment, We owe our flashing, dashing luck To our leader, Mrs. Gluck! Now leaving all our friends is sad, (And furthermore, this poem grows bad,) The coming verse will end it all With one last D-8 battle call: FAREWELL TO HIGH SCHOOL LIFE, A LARK AND ALSO, FOND FAREWELL TO CLARKE! He was In Memory of MR. ERNEST R088ITER Truly a dedicated teacher. One of the real faces amongst the faceless crowd Of life. Truly a great man ... Like Thomas More perhaps Or like Rousseau. He'd never compromise with what he felt was morally correct ... An idealist; that's it—an idealist. He reached us. With outstretched hands he’d plead Understand—or try at least. He exemplified his teachings. It was to his honesty we’d respond. There was, in him, no falseness To belie that which he taught us. His voice is stilled; his mind now inactive, But deep within our minds and hearts He lives. And we reward him with a student's greatest gift ... 190 Loving respect.
