Battleground fell to Chehalis' passes, as the Bearcats won their third game in a row, I8 to 7. Tailback Bob Schwarz returned to the lineup after a two-week absence and led the Bearcats to their win. Mac Arrington also ran impressively. John Lindner, starting Bearcat tackle, was injured in the game. Chehalis rolled up 229 yards rushing, IOZ yards passing, and 12 first downs to the losers' IO. The Bearcats showed their power and grabbed first place in the Central League by razzle-dazzling their way to a 25 to 0 win over the highly touted Montesano Bulldogs. The highlight of the game was a 87 yard run by George Lyle on a double reverse. The big Bearcat line led by George Bickel kept the Bulldogs in check. Coach Rod Giske commended Bickel and senior tackle Ron Creech for their fine defensive play. Other scoring plays saw fullback Mac Arrington bang over from the three yard line and quarterback Ron James sneak in from the three. ln the muck and mire at Cascade Field the Bearcats won their wourth game in a row and remained on top in the Central League by beating Elma I4 to 7. The rain caused ten fumbles, but action was not slowed. Early in the second quarter a long march netted the first touchdown as Mac Arrington drove for the needed five yards. This play also saw Bob Schwarz breakvhis collarbone, not to return to action. Later, Alan Allie carried the ball twenty-three yards around end for the second touchdown and Bud Wedin kicked his second extra point. The Eagles scored late in the third quarter and that ended the scoring. Bud Vledln 4667 and Alan Allie 450D team up a pass play.
