West High School, the Student Council, acts as a mediator between the students and the faculty. Composing the Student Council are the student body officers: the presidents of the Junior and Senior classes: the presidents, vice-presidents, and secretaries of the Freshman and Sophomore classes: the editors of CHEHALIN, CHSOTA, and CRIMSON AND GRAY: and the presidents of all recognized school activities. Mr. Mitten, the principal, acts as advisor to the Student Council. Last spring the Student Council made an important change in the Constitu- tion. Formerly our officers were :nominated by the Student Council and then elected by the student body. Under the newamendment they are nomfinated by a political party and then elected. This plan was presented by a group of W. F. West students and approved 'b the Student Council. The Student Council plays in important part in the high school. It conducts the annual magazine drive which gives financial assistance to school projects. This year the money assisted in the purchase of new robes for the chorus. The Student Council sponsors the initiation party held each fall for the Freshman and new students. With the guidance of the Student Council, the student body becomes an active force in school affairs.
