The I969 TooTball season spoTlighTed Dykes in sTaTe sporTs news..Dykes surprised everyone buT ourselves by ending The season as The sevenTh ranked AAA Team in Georgia. When head coach James Bud Theodocian began The informal pracTices in July, he seT ouT To show ThaT This year's ColT Team was The besT Dykes Team ever assembled. The suc- cess oT The Team was accounTed Tor by iTs quickness and individual abiliTy, coupled wiTh superb coaching. Aided by deTensive coach R. L. Lamb and line coach John PresTon, Coach Theodocian guided an experienced Team To a record breaking Dykes season oT I I wins againsT only 2 losses. The Two deTeaTs came aT The hands oT AA sTaTe champ NorTh Springs and AAA sTaTe co-champ AThens. On SepTember 5Th, Dykes opened iTs season againsT a sTrong Therrell Team aT Grady STadium. Impressive running by Bobby Reeves and junior Sheffy lvlcArThur, along wiTh The excellenT passing oT Wayne Wilson, igniTed The Team To The Tune of a 48 To I3 rouT over Therrell. Hank Foldberg and co-capTain JeTT Bachman scored wiTh The college scouTs in The nexT Two games as we preceded To roll over BriarcliTT and Woodward Academy by The scores of 43 To 3 and I7 To O respecTively.
