Homecoming Couri The I969 Homecoming game wiTh NorThside aT Grady sTadium drew a sTanding-room-only crowd of sTudenTs, alumni, parenTs, and 'fooTball Tans. However, acTiviTies preceding game day were en- joyed by only The I969-l97O sTudenTs who were young, Toolish and happy. Being young was playing The spiriT games Jr. CiviTan or- ganized To begin The week. Being Toolish was painTing our TeeT on banners and compeTing To see which class could painT The mosT signs. AlThough The boTh young and foolish iuniors powderpuff Team and cheerleaders Tried hard, The seniors emerged The vicTors of The annual powderpuff game. Each day's acTiviTies boosTed The spiriT of The sTudenTs, buT The peak oT ColT spiriT did noT come unTil Friday nighT's game wiTh The NorThside Tigers. All The Dykes Tans were Thrilled when Miss Nancy Hamby was crowned our I969 Homecoming Queen, buT Thrilled was noT The word To describe The Tans as The clock ran ouT 4Th guarTer and The scoreboard read I4-IZ. The ColTs wenT wild and sTampeded The Tield To congraTulaTe our TooTball Team. The climax of Homecoming week was Tinally here: we had beaTen NorThside and were on our way To The Milk Bowl.
