arsity Basketball A losing season doesn't tell the story for the Boswell boys' basketball team. It was a very disappointing year, but much was accomplished inspite of the team's 2-22 record. Coach john Craft feels that the seniors this year were responsible in helping to lay the foundation for the years' teams to come. Craft gave high recognition to seniors Paul Iacobs, Scott Staton, Kent Vincent, and David Dumas for not quitting or giving up knowing this season was their last, while having to battle a long and losing season. Although the roundballers record wasn't spectacular, it doesn't tell of some of the exciting games that were played. There were four games in a row when the Pioneers lost only by one or two points. Not only could these four games have gone either way, but three games later the team lost to Class B state-ranked Coppell by five points and again two games later the lost by one point state-ranked McKinney. Throughout the season there were three other games the Pioneers lost by only four, five, and six points. Staton did a strong job of rebounding with help of junior Chris Shaw and Sophomore Randy Lauderdale. Leading scorers for the team were Staton and junior Tim Thornton. Thomton also led with most assists followed closely behind by soph- omore Reed Bogue. Marty Ezell was another sophomore who has proven himself on a varsity ball club. Sports 73 fi .sffa.vg,.,.
