Pep Squad This yearls Pep Squad was extra busy with pre- paring and performing a different routine at every home football game. They purchased blue and gold balloons which they sold during the Homecoming game and the post-season play-offs. The girls sup- ported the Pioneer team as they rode the buses and backed them up from Denton to Mesquite and then to Farrington Field for the semi-finals game. Dur- ing regular season, pep squad sold candy bars to raise money. Officers were: president, Lisa Dyerg vice president, Teresa Alleng secretary, Linda Moreland, treasurer, jamie Tidwell and historian, Donna Reynolds. refs A 'L Organizations 139

' P The Trailblazers were very active around football season, helping with the cleaning of the gym after pep rallies, the selling of programs, and the parking of cars in the east and west parking lots. With the help of their sponsors, Mr. Deryl Fox and Mr. joe Bryan, they got the jobs done. At Homecoming the Trailblazers led players and fans in a torch light parade around the campus for the burning of the BHS. HERO Students in child development spent three days a week, every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in classrooms in district schools learning to teach, and observing behavior of early childhood, kindergarten and first grade stu- dents. Students also worked at Hansel and Cre- tel, Langls, and Kinder Kare Day Care Centers. The club sponsored a Halloween party and a Christmas party for two local day care centers from money they made from selling shorts and from donations to the toy drive. Members took a tour of the Edna Cladney Home and afterwards took candy to Cook's Children Hospital for Eas- ter. The club also sponsored the Hike-Bike to help retarded citizens of the area and raised over 32,700 for the cause. Members met for dinner at various houses dur- ing the year and even had a scavenger hunt at Miss Beverly Hall's, club sponsor. 140 organizations
