Thespians The drama department, which included Thespian members, began the year with the production of the fall musical, The Wizard of Ozn, in December. Rehearsals and bake sales were held in preparation for the successful presentation. In the spring, the drama department chose Asylum', as the one-act play for U.I.L. Zone competition in March. Taking first in zone for one-act play, cast members advanced to district in U.I.L. competition in April. Although not advancing in the competition, cast members won six acting awards. Runner-up to best actress went to Mary Parkerg all-star cast was awarded to Karin Hampton and Cheryl Anthony. Hon- orable mentions were Besty Szlasa, Rachel McLain and Cara Luftman. The Thespians held bake sales in the spring for the drama department's trip to Six Flags. Debaters Kyle Waston and Steven Sand- ers continued their winning tradition by getting to semi-final and final rounds in the toiunaments they entered, and defeated many 4A teams. After winning at the dis- trict and regionals contest, the two went on to their fourth straight trip to state, winning first place in the competition. 126 Organizations

V , K 'gf 'iXJ an OCCT Hard work paid off for the office duplication classes as they Won first place for the third year in a row at the State VOCCT Contests at Corpus Christi in April. They also won a second place trophy at the meet.
