r vil, r v-Q4.. Q Girls' Track C The girls' track team got a late start this year, after traveling to the state basketball tourna- ment, which allowed them time to only compete in three meets before district. The girls competed at Comanche, Richland and Everman. With only three seniors the team was comparatively young and inexperienced, but this didn't dampen the Pioneerettes' spirit. Consistent points were collected by the mile relay team made up of Beth Blount, Devonna Mann, Tina Elledge and Becky Gillen, the 880 relay, with Elledge, Lisa Daughtrey, Lynda Bicknell and Blount as runners and Dorothy Hamman in the triple jump, Daughtrey in the long jump, Rachel Glover in the high jump, Donna Steele in the hurdles and fresh- man Susan Keys in the 880 run. The district track meet at Mansfield proved that the girls needed just a little more time to be ready. Close finishes were recorded in the mile relay, 880 run, the triple jump, hurdles and high jump, with the girls barely being edged out in many events. The freshmen came in second in dis- trict in the junior varsity division with the mile relay winning first. if d e L1 ' V '-If w r ' , Ag ., W , ' iffy ..., . . . . i s if 3. ,, fs 43,8 mfwrlf' ii SQ? i al ,A 1 r Y-,f K 'L B I - ' ,M ,. l it . -t-ff+ 3 px: 94 qrli w ,.r.,.. , Q- A XV , I A 3 , 5 PLY , K l ev, r Wi li 'H 1 D' Z 10 v . The cindermen hosted and won the first meet of the season, the Pioneer Relays. It was the first meet Boswell cindermen had won since the '60's and after racking up 115 team points, the Pioneers were on their way to a spectacular season. But the real stars were the Mori brothers, who scored many first and second places, chalking up points to help the Boswell tracksters win at Grapevine and Bre- wer. And then there was Roger Corbin, the freshman who captured a first place in the pole vault almost ev- ery time. Boswell finished fifth in the district meet, with 43 points and Ricky Mori and Kurt Eagle quali- fied for the regional meet in the 440 and mile runs. This year's track season was one of the best ever and with many returners next year, Boswell can only look forward to another great season. 88 Action maui., 1 5 If l Front: Butch Hoover, Ricky Allison, Kurt Eagle, Larry Holt, Ricky Mori, Roger Corbin, Mark Techmeyer.
