Wagon Women head toward the state play-offs with a victory at regional the game with Debra Hawthorne swishing the basket for two. fel Dorothy Hamman adds to the varsity score in a home game. ffl Donna Steele and Beth Blount guard against Hornet points. fgj Rachel Glover stays with a DeSoto forward during bi-district play. The girls' varsity basketball team traveled through a very successful round ball season and became the first girls team ever to go to state semi-finals. The girls started in non-district play by playing in three tournaments and trav- eling to different schools to bring home a record of 13-3. The team received a con- solation trophy in the Weatherford College Tournament with Donna Steele and Deniece Blount being named all-tournament players. Third place was received in the Decatur Tournament, and during the U.T.A. Classic Beth Blount received all- tournament honors. After a ten-day lay off during Christmas the cagers came out of district play with a 9-1 record. Azle became an obstacle after beating the wagonwomen in one of their last games, but Boswell came up on top in the play- offs for the district 3A-5 title. The team advanced to regionals by defeating DeSoto 76-41. The cagers ad- vanced to the play-offs in Athens to meet Center. During the first half of play the score seemed to be equalized for both teams, but during the final minutes the Pioneerettes pulled the game from Center's reach. Action 79

Boswell 'fo 've', d was scheduled to play three-time state qualifiers Waco Midway. The first half of play was very y close and planned out for both teams. During the l third quarter Boswell was stalled, only gaining a few points. The game ended 74-59, with Midway l on top. Junior Dorothy Hamman was named to the All- State Tournament Team. But by making the play-offs honor came for the whole team. Coach Don Enax was named 3A-5 Coach of the Year. Dianna Otto and Rachel Glover were named Most Valuable Players, and Donna Steele and Beth Blount were named all-district first teams and Deniece Blount and Dorothy Hamman all-dis- trict second team.
