The team showed much improvement as the season progressed. A few of the standouts for the season were Ricky Mori, Bill Flowers, Dan Estel, Wes Tipton and Richard Murray. Coach Bob Bogue commented, lt was a very fine season for my first year to coach the boys. Some of the most exciting games were against Castleberry and Mansfield. In competition with Castleberry the boys tied it up at 60-60 at the end of regulation time. It looked as if the team had the momentum to pull out another victory. How- ever, the Lions thought differently when they put the ball in the bucket at the buzzer. Although boys had many overtime victories, the Lions took this one. Mansfield was another team who forced an overtime game, after tying 35-35 an end of regu- lation time. The Pioneers won the game 40-35. 74 Action . 8. ,Fc -i. . . 5- .Q . 1, ' vw ,, be Q , 3-f' lv, .N : ,X 51: - . 1 ,SN tg- - Z? X bc

p'1?'ss,.fl W nwzkfnf W Freshmen Basketball The freshman boys basketball team competed well in non- district play but slowed down before district began. In nondistrict play their record was a solid 14-6, and in dis- trict it was 2-5. Many of the games were decided by a very few points. This was true especially in district where three out of seven games were lost by less than five points. They also showed the ability that they could win some close games as they took both district wins by two points or less. Danny Pemberton was the leading scorer for the fresh- men squad with a total of 352 points for the season. The frosh competed in three tournaments during the year. At Keller they won third, they brought home the consolation trophy from Castleberry and in their own tournament were 1 i defeated in the bid for the consolation spot. -1lM ,..a.,.,U ff J 1 -i T
