The Pioneers only scores occurred in the first half with a l 22-yard gallop into the end zone by Ricky Corbin and a 27 T yard left-footed, soccer style field goal by Tim Bicknell, his goal by Tim Bicknell, his first of the year. The Pioneers final game of the season teamed them against second place contenders, Azle Hornets, in a match for the spot. The Pioneers won the game 18-6 but the scoring was another story. The Pioneers' first score come on a Paul Jacobs interception which was run in from 35 yards out. Bi- cknell also had a foot in the scoring as he booted his final field goal of the year from the 20-yard line, and then there was Jeff Dykes, whose running skill pounded out the way for Boswell, game after game. Making the All-Zone team were: Ricky Walton, Gary Bush, Jeff Dykes, Pete Higgins, and Vernon Sanders. PIOHQGTS Finish VT 5 hr lf Szfvwmf, ,ft A Second 1n Zone It was a cold, clear and damp night when the Pioneers faced their first 1976 zone opponents, the Castleberry Lions. The team which once competed in 4A competition was the first for Boswell to meet under new UIL redist- ricting. Boswell didn't mind the former 4A team as a 30 yard touchdown run by Bobby Fowler and a swift 65 yard scoring run by Eddie Mori led the team to their first zone victory 28-0. The next zone game wasn't as cold, but the clear and damp turned to cloudy and rain. The Pioneers got soaked as they slipped by the Brewer Bears with a spectacular catch by Chuck Thornton and two touchdowns by Danny Henson, along with the brick wall of the Pioneers' de- fense sparked the team to their second win. Boswell then suffered their most disappointing defeat of the year, the loss that was to put them out of the dis- trict race and make Boswell fight for a second place in the 3A-5 west zone.
