Distributive Education DECA members Annette Carter and Shan English attended the state DE contests after winning in their divisions at the area level. Annette was the first female ever to qualify for state in the petroleum marketing division and Shan went in merchandise display. Shan missed a trip to the national finals later in the year after tying with another DECA student. The other student's score was two points higher on the written test, which was the tie breaking factor. Involvement 135

FF Agriculture students were kept busy from the very first of the year, and even started their work by attending the 46th state FFA meeting in July, going to the Keller livestock show in August and winning the Herdsman Award. The State Fair was next on their list of trav- els and then the district leadership conference which was hosted by Boswell. The department sponsored a welding course in the fall and graduated students who attended. The club sold oranges and grapefruit during the months before Christmas for their money-making project. Besides holding their monthly meetings, they attended workshops and judging contests at other schools. Tina Hogan was elected dis- trict sweetheart and attended the area contest in May with the club. The organization concluded the year by hos- ting a banquet in the Student Center which was for members and families. .'-1.2. 56' ' TL L Involvement 137
