in ix ww, , ,.,, ,f H.E.R.O. Students in child development spent three days a week in class- rooms in the district schools learning to teach and observing behav- ior of early childhood and kindergarten students. In addition to their regular center schedules, they spent two full days during the year in schools helping the teachers. This was the first year for students to work in a day care center, where children of working parents are left for supervision all day. Students were transported to Hansel and Gretel Day Care Center on Jacksboro Highway for work in an actual child care program. The club sponsored a Halloween party and a Christmas party for two local day care centers from money they made from candy sales in November. The club members also made their own T-shirts. Members met for dinner at various houses during the year and topped the year off with a trip to Six Flags in the spring. 4 Involvement 129
