Math Club Members of the Math Club were busiest during February preparing for their second annual number sense and slide rule contest. Practice paid off for two math students as Jim Bob Atchi- son and Jeff Cantwell qualified first and second for the regional competition in slide rule in the spring at the district UIL meet. The club participated in many activities during the year including a skit at the Christmas program and took a trip to visit the LBJ Ranch and Library in March. - . The yellow buses took the girls wherever the team went and they dis- played the spirit that helped the Pioneers get to state. The pep squad, over 100 strong, formed a field routine group of 30 during the football season which entertained the home crowd before each game. For Homecoming, the girls displayed a spe- cial card section from the stands. They ended the year with their annual picnic and election of officers for 1977-78. Involvement 115

Other science fair participants won recognition at the TCU fair and brought home special awards. The annual fair was set up in the Science Building for public display and was judged by outside judges and the winners of the district-wide contest were announced in an assembly at Boswell. Win- ners were presented with trophies and ribbons. Involvement 117
