The float, which was a gazebo that seated the queen nominees, was designed and built by the club. The float was made of hundreds of tissue flowers individually made by art students. Throughout the year classes made pottery and worked on various art techniques in preparation for the Show-Off in May. There were activities in pen and ink drawings, paintings, macrame, pastel drawings and charcoal and contour drawings. nd! bland- I

W. t.w,g,,,,,i ' J, . if gc .,., do 1'W xw4' in Construction Trades Learning the basics in building and construc- tion was the goal of students in the two-hour course of construction trades. Class members learned to mix and pour concrete and cement and to frame and build various structures. Work during the year consisted of doing repair work to structures, making improvements and building for individuals. The classes built stor- age houses and displayed them in their shop. The structures were dismantled and sold to in- terested persons. Involvement 113

I V.- 1 f 1 I 1 .4 2. fi Pep Squad 1 l -.. ,., - l, yr.. f , , 1- 1 W, rf . -7 ruff 'r . r .lr Jr The year for Pep Squad did not end with the fi- nal football game as the girls attended basketball games and followed the girls' varsity to regional state semi-finals in Austin. The yellow buses took the girls wherever the team went and they dis- played the spirit that helped the Pioneers get to state. The pep squad, over 100 strong, formed a field routine group of 30 during the football season which entertained the home crowd before each game. For Homecoming, the girls displayed a spe- cial card section from the stands. They ended the year with their annual picnic and election of officers for 1977-78. Involvement 115
