Student Council With the leadership of council officers, the student group provided service at many school functions during the year and sponsored many fun activities as well as community projects. Helping with the organization of Homecoming, the council presented a float during halftime, sponsored the class banner con- test and sold ballons which were sent air born at kick-off time. The annual faculty-council volleyball game ended with the faculty members as victors, even though the council combined strength and talent in hopes of upsetting the two teams. Admission was used up to help purchase turkeys for area needy families for the holidays. The student body collected over 700 cans to be divided among the families for the council food drive. The council organized a program of skits before Christmas which included talent from various organizations and clubs from campus. In February the first annual Gong Show pitted the talent of the teachers against the arms of the Gong judges. The council rewarded the stage hounds by hosting a breakfast for them on April Fool Day. The Over Fifties group from Saginaw were guests of the council for the second year as they toured the campus, were enter- tained with skits and music and ate lunch on campus before depart- ing. The state convention was attended in the spring and election of officers was held to end the year's schedule. 110 Involvement
