were Kelly Alvis, Darla Hard, Beth Ham and Laurie Brooks. Becky Brooks and Pat Vawter qualified for the 9th grade All-Re- gion Band. Several groups of students par- ticipated in the U.I.L. solo and en- semble contest in February, and returned with good results. The Sound Machine then began to seriously prepare for the U.I.L. concert and sightreading contest in March. For two weeks prior to the contest, the band made daily trips to the TCJC Northwest cam- pus to practice in the band hall and auditorium. When the band attended the contest, a total of two I's and four lI's were received. In May the band gave a final spring concert. This concert was the final performance for the graduating seniors as regular members. During graduation cer- emonies the seniors participated in one last song before receiving their diplomas.
