Netters Take Zone Second The varsity girls' volleyball team came in second in the West Zone behind state semifinalist Castleberry. The girls played in one tournament where they advanced to the semifinals and were defeated by Sherman. The netters experienced a successful sea- son as they threatened to tie the Lions' district record until their last meeting which ended in de- feat for the Pioneerettes. The girls had a exceptional season according to Coach Dana McCarroll. All-West Zone honors went to seniors Deniece Blount and Diana Otto. The junior varsity also recorded a good season. Al- though they lacked height, they made up for it on the nets in spirit and fought their way through dis- trict. In zone they also placed second behind Castle- berry. The junior varsity will take a lot of experience to next year's varsity team. , f ,Z 98 Action
