Cindermen Boswell's varsity track men had an exceptionally good season breaking and tying six school records, some of which had been in the books since I967. The team also succeeded in setting a new total scoring record at Boswell with l04'6 points secured at the Castleberry meet. Records set were by Brian Adler in the shot put and discus and Dewain Smith in the 330 intemtediate hurdles. Kurt Eagle tied a record in the mile, Chuck Boggess in the 120 high hurdles and Brad Harris in the high jump. Under the coaching of David Ballauer enthusiasm and spirit for the team seems to be climbing higher and higher each year. The excellent record ofthe varsity track team for I976 gives evidence to this fact. 90 Sports gl ,.-ff L ,Q-.. t 'K f r Ii' X Q . Q . 9 . The Pioneers provided the fans with an exciting season of one-and tWO-run margin wins and losses. With the exception of only two games, the Pioneers saw victory and close defeats all season. Grady Mattson was Bos- wells' most consistent pitcher, walking away with four victories and only one defeat. Other pitchers for the Pioneers were Ricky Walton and Tim Bicknell. Another of Bos- well's outstanding players was Chuck Bog- gess who led the team in stolen bases, runs, hits and times at bat. Junior Jeff Dykes led the team in hitting doubles and getting walks. The only freshman member, Danny Hen- son, hit several home runs and maybe prove to be a promising player next three years. Possibly the most important accomplish- ment for a player is leading in runs batted in, which Mike Kellum did this year. 92 Sports
