unior Varsity The Junior varsity roundballers began non-district play with Nolan, and lost 33-20. The determined team came back to win four consecutive games against Min- eral Wells, 45-51g Keller, 30-283 Richland, 33-183 and Jacksboro, 36-34. At Plano the wagonwomen suffered a 48-36 slap, and lost to their first district contenders with losses to Mineral Wells, 32-19 and, Azle. 38-31. The Brewer bears found themselves skinned on their own grounds when the IV ruled to a 46-30 win. However, the team had trouble keeping their momentum and suf- fered a 44-18 defeat at Burleson. But they returned to bop Richland 52-46. A 37-25 defeat by Mansfield and a 49-25 slap by Cast1eberry's varsity team kept the team at a steady down, and they lost their following games to Azle. Not to be kept down the .IVers came back with a 27'-13 win over Brewer. However, the last season game was a close match, and Boswell lost 37-36, leaving the team with a 7-10 record for the season. ...rf Sports

Girls, Track The varsity girls collected 65 points for an over-all fourth at the district track meet in April. Competing at Burleson's Elk Stadium. the team's only two firsts were brought home by Amber Boaz in the shot put and the discus. They were Amber's third consecutive district first in shot and second in discus. Placing second were Vickie Morgan in the long jump. and the mile relay team consisting of Morgan. Beth Blount. Becky Gillen and Darla Hard. This was also the second year that the team took second to qualify for regional. District thirds were Lisa Stokdyk in the 880-yard run and Rachel Glover in the high jump. Fourths were Do- rothy Hamman in the triplejump and Hard in the hur- dles. Hamman placed fifth in the hurdles. In regional competition. Boaz took two thirds in the shot and discus. The mile relay team won sixth in their race. The freshmen. competing in the junior varsity divi- sion. placed first in the district. The team participated in meets at Bridgeport and Brewer. Although the girls of- ten competed against more experienced tracksters and in higher divisions than their own. they usually enjoyed good showings wherever they travelled. At district. first place winners were Kristal Wilson in the 440 dash, Lisa Daughtrey in the triplejump. Becky Stafford. highjump and Laura Guadagai. discus.
