'Q fm K Blue machine gives fans exciting 10-O season Undefeated team wins district Boswell's 1975 football season was a combination of en- thusiasm, excitement. and good times for many. truly the elements ofa celebration. While the band played and fans cheered. the Pioneers pulled out victory after victory to be- come the first team of Boswell to go undefeated through regular season play. The team's hopes were high from the very beginning as they went into their first game. with the odds against them. facing state-ranked Gainsville. After a tough defensive battle the Pioneers took a 7-6 victory. their first close one and a foreshadowing of many more to come. The Pioneers continued to exhibit their winning style as they went through the pre-district games undefeated. Working hard during their late afternoon work-outs the team prepared for district. The first district game was a do-or-die match-up as the Pioneers sought revenge against defending district cham- pions Grapevine. Defense was the key factor the Pio- neers held on to take a 14-12 victory in a tense and ex- citing game. A week later the odds were against Boswell as they went up against next year's 4-A ranked team Bur- leson. The game was deadlocked for three quarters until the Pioneers pulled ahead by six and. after a desperate heart-stopping scoring attempt by Burleson, clung to their narrowing margin for a 6-0 win. Looking for a good solid victory for a Homecoming crowd. the Pioneers hosted the Brewer Bears. Even though Brewer was heavily favored to upset the blue machine. the spirit-charged Pioneers ran away with the score for a 34-0 finish. Midway through the season the Pioneers were still unde- feated as they went to Azle. finally picked to beat a crippled Hornet squad. That they did in a high-scoring 46- 8 finish. Gaining a state ranking in newspaper polls, the next week. the Pioneers went to Handley Field to meet Diamond Hill in search of their eighth straight win. The Pioneers were almost tricked out of their Halloween treat as they squeezed out a 16-14 victory. and began another string of close margin victories. Sitting on top of District 3A-5 as the only undefeated team. the Pioneers edged the Bulldogs 10-8 to go on to win number nine. Even though undefeated, the title was still on the line as the Pioneers faced number two ranked Mansfield in a game which would decide the championship. The game was close through the first half with the Pioneers going to the locker room at the half with a narrow lead. But the Blue team proved their right to be number one as they wore out the Tigers in the second half. rolling up a 28-6 score. causing pandemonium in Pioneer Stadium. From here it was on to Clarke Stadium to meet the South Grand Prairie Warriors in bi-district playoffs.
