O. Mclntyrej 1, Diary of the Modern Pepys: ll P February 20th: '4 'P 1 1 Arrived on our campus at eight-thirty, guiltily to hop up those wet I and shining marble steps under a storm of non-benevolent gestures from a J' li needless lookout. So on to English and there to labor with the lingo of H 'E those allegorical Angles. The second period and up to honor study hall, profusely to ponder H ll over increasing assignments. And deeply engrossed in my labors when some it 'I weary Webster pipes up for an incessant inning of babbling blues, which i 'I grows to be very monotonous. The period ends If V On the third floor is a group of staunch Striplinites thronged about I I, the bulletin board-and seem greatly amused, as was I. when I saw La I, Vaughn Gidding's clever conception of a coming football clash. Only by 'I rapidly displacing the prevailing atmosphere do I arrive in time to enjoy 1 one of Mr. St. Clair's engaging Civics classes. I The fourth period and so to math, where Miss Parker spends a full , 6 sixty minutes testing the dexterity of our mathematical wrinkle. The daily ,I echo of the study hall enroute to lunch. What's the hurry and why the 4 1, rush? Yet we all do it. ,J 1' Noon and dip down into the Hoskin's Hash-House and find more I girl friends locating in the boy's cafeteria. They seek good company: so 1 ll they are allowed to remain. Plop! Crash! Clatter! That green grandee, it who thought Mr. Maxey was principal slyly proving Newton's law.. He dropped the dishes. Thoughts while strolling: The click of high boots on the tile floor. Those suits plus open collars. Contraband gum. The cautious rounding of blind corners. Officious observers. What ever became of those glass fountain pens? The Model Living Room with homestead hearth. Guard- E 5' ians of the Law. N To chapel where the Bible is read. Then on to chemistry and there learn much under the capable instruction of Miss Behrens. Enroute to the last when met by Billie Cranz, the Senior Class presi- dent, and Allen Gwynne smilingly merging from a scholastic cell.. Comes Mr. Vance greatly worried about something. The rush to Mr. Maxey's drawing class to be among those present. There, with instruments and ink, i we strive to get a slant on life.
