With shaking knees and confused minds, graduation seemed a long way off then. Each received a big sister to help her adjust to her new life. These girls were Probies and in that first week they learned the FULL MEANING of their new title. To add to the initiation activities there was a picnic, tour of the hospital and classes. Studies piled up, and in their spare C?J time there were plans for the Halloween Party, making projects for the Christmas Bazaar, parties, helping with the Christmas Tea and the J CC Winter Carnival. Along with all this they made their debute in the hospital corridors, frightened but so proud. Then the big day in March when twenty-eight girls donned their caps and proudly informed everyone that they were no longer Probies. Soon there were final tests, college classes were completed, then a month of full time work in the hospital. Oh! those aching feet, --following was two weeks of much needed vacation. In September they received black corner stripes for their caps, got a little sister, and began their Junior year with only twenty-four girls. This year found them in every corner of the hospital, supplementing their knowledge by attending Medical Surgical classes, and surprisingly enough there was still time for money making activities, and the Christmas Bazaar. Hurrah! the girls came out on top in sales at the Bazaar so they were guests of honor at a Hoagie Party given by the other two classes. At last--they had reached the halfway mark. This was celebrated by having a banquet. Still a year and a half--would they ever make it? In April, off to Gowanda, their first affiliation and one never to be forgotten. Then the girls proudly make their appearance inthe halls of WCA wearing caps with full black bands--Seniors at last! Suddenly theyhad more responsibilities and the big rush was on to build up that treasury. Then the class splits--first obstetrics. then to Buffalo for pediatrics. These months are busy ones with money making schemes, completion of the yearbook, vacation, and back to WCA for senior experience. After three years it seems these girls still have an endless supply of energy to enjoy those last activities: class night, alumnae banquet and senior dance. At lastthe big day is here. At the end of the halls is graduation. One last look back and you see many wonderful experiences, trying times, and happy memories you'll never forget. These are the graduates of the Class of 1961.
