JIMMY SANDERS-Outstanding Back LARRY HUDSON-Outstanding Lineman V. R. DALRYMPLE-Coach Vivian High's football fans got their money's worth during the 1951 season. Although the won-lost tally did not measure up to those in the past seasons, there were thrills galore in this year's games. Winning only three games out of nine, the Warriors, nevertheless, fought some of their best matches against the tough- est foes. In the opening game, high hopes for a successful season prevailed as Oil City fell beneath the tomahawk. But later in the season, the hard-fighting Warriors bowed to the underdog Blue Flyers of St. Johns, defeated the outclassed squad from Many, then lost the next two tilts to Minden and Springhill, the last two by the heart- breaking score of 14-12. The Homecoming game was unquestionably the best played game of the season by the locals. The gridsters were rolling as a 19-14 win was chalked up for Vivian. After the 40-0 loss to Jonesboro came what were possibly the most exciting games of the season for the Tribe, although the opponents tied one and emerged victorious in another. Cotton Valley managed to tie the Indians, 13-13, in a nerve racking type of game. Then Mansfield High's highly favored Wolverines edged out Vivian in a long-to-be remembered 20-19 thriller.
