Opens the Door . . . i :4 M l=kk: Through the course of his life each individual will face many decisions. Whether they are large or small, new or experienced, important or unimportant, one must decide for himself which path to take- which door to open. For some the road is not always clear. Vista High School opens the door to a tremendous variety of academic subjects and activities, thus giving each student a truly rounded education. By exposing everyone to a maximum of possible fields, V.H.S. plays an extremely important role in helping each student decide and pursue his life ' s goals. The 1970 La Revisla exemplifies the many opportunities that are made available. The doors are there for the opening! ,v , w r-i i r I Ife ' i IBh RHir? A new enthusiasm swept over the entire student body as everyone found their own way to express spirit. Participating in athletics, marching in the drill team, playing in the band, or simply yelling support from the stands; school spirit was an all important factor in life at V.H.S. Campus Is Open to New Activities Wjpif I ' This year Vista High opened its doors to many new ideas and changes. The 1969- 1970 school year started with the welcoming of a new principal, Augustus H. Braun, who brought many progressive ideas to our campus. The first innovation to be established was a relaxation of the dress code for both girls and boys. Next came a House of Repre- sentatives which brought all the students closer to their student leaders and gave hopes of a successful student govern- ment. A soccer club was formed at V.H.S. for the first time. These are only a few of the new developments that came to us. mammmmi k 1 There Is A Door for Everyone fe I Doors are opened everyday; each door leads to a different goal. Just as each door differs, so do everyone ' s individual ambitions. In his pursuit of success or happiness, one must find the door to his particular goals—there is a door for every- one. mniiiRnHHHiH SBmvsf mm La Revista dedicates this year ' s yearbook to two out- standing teachers at Vista High. La Revista Every yearbook staff tries to make its book bette r and more unique than any ever seen; the 1970 La Revista staff is no exception. With the help of our advisor. Miss Mary Putnam, we learned many ways to improve our book from last year. We added color pages and designed a new cover. The staff used more creative layouts with more pictures and tried overlapping the pictures ' corners. Different from last year ' s book are the overprints and reverse printing. Our staff worked hard, but our co-editors worked harder. Shirley Fagan and Gerry Pohl were always nudging us to meet deadlines, and their help was appreciated by all staff members. In spite of our efforts, some clubs and activi- ties were left out due to production deadlines. Although he is no longer with us, Mr. Olson ' s teaching greatness has been felt by many who wish to show their appreciation for his presence on our campus. No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promonotory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were. Any man ' s death diminishes me, because I am involved in man- kind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
