Drafting Class Show Ulf Their kills Visitation School provides a well-rounded two year course in drafting, the language of our Industrial Detroit. During the first two semesters the young draftsmen are given the guidance and educational values of mechan- ical Drawing and they learn to express their own ideashby means of conventional symbols. In the first year individual differences are discovered and opportu- nities given for advancement in sketching, instrument lobs, lettering, reading of the slide rule, and skills in the use of materials and instruments as the students progress with the working drawings. Even former students who do not become mechanical draftsmen often return to tell us that the skills, habits, and abilities mastered at school have been transferable and useful in their own occupations. The self discipline that co-mes through the concentration of mind and hand to do a creditable piece of work in a specific time is of lasting value long after the draftsmen leave Visitation High School. Many boys develop a sense of appreciation for the work of the draftsmen in the first year and wish to continue in the field. The subiect of Pattern Develop- ment, Pictorial, Machine, and Architectural Drawing are offered to them in the third and fourth semesters. The boys soon learn that emphasis is placed on quality and thorough understanding rather than upon the quantity of work finished. Pictured here are The Senior boys in the Drafting class. At the lower left, Dale Scott and Leonard Rosiewicz are- comparing basic models, above them are David Moore, Lawerence Korzecke and John Burke, showing the application of des i g n to architecture. In the far- ther right hand corner, Roger Carter and James Seleski are working on a car design, in the back at the tables are Wendel Hall, Mark Shallow, and Michael Duffy, seat- ed in the foreground from left to right are Jamal Esshaki, Raymond Vincent, Gary Naiarian, Duane Murphy and Michael Franz.

Young Home Makers Seriously At Work P To the left, Dorothy Lasitis is carefully studying her pattern. Garment makers at the machines are: Sylvia Warunek, Mary Frances Unger, Anne Rudel, Judith Knecht, and Elaine Millington. The work of this group will be on exhibition at the annual Fashion Show which is usually held sometime in April or May. Every spring the clothing classes present a fashion show, This year's show, Travel Treasures, featured garments that could carry a girl through any vacation and look well anywhere. Play clothes were modeled by Paula Woodward, Constance Kuzma, Catherine Rohrig and Catherine's little sister. Clothes that travel, included a blue gabardine coat with red and white candy striped lining, made and modeled by Noreen McMonagle, a white print sheath dress, with matching beige coat, by Sally Taylor, and a brown linen dress, with matching lined jacket, by Dolores Kocenda. Also included in the group of traveling clothes were dresses, skirts, iackets and blouses by Mary Golden, Pauline Vogel, Linda Wilson, Mary Ann Zemaitis, Barbara McNamara, Diane Mc- Pherson, Virginia Livernois, Sharon MacAuley, Janet Bodak, Nancy McNamara, Patricia Blan- chard, Patricia Moore, Karen Krabach, Mary Louise Nashar, Joanne Mottin, Elaine Yondura Carol George, and by Ann Rudel. Ready for an evening, or daytime of fun, in flattering feminine fashions, were modeled by Virginia Osdras, Mary Rowiewicz, Mary Frances Unger, Sylvia Warunek, Colleen Brady, Elaine Millington, Lottie Khoury, Dorothy Lasitis, Mary Ann McKay, Loretta Young, Patricia Kuclo, Jo- anne Ziemba, Anita Piirala, Toni Robb, Barbara Johnson, Carol Prager, Judy Knecht, and Evelyn Chytry. This group featured new fabrics and weaves. Many new fashion trends and colors were evident. A delightful way to begin or end any day were shown in dusters and kimonas by Joanne Steele, Elizabeth Kattula and Connie Kuzma. These garments showed us that clothes can be fashionable as well as modest. Using the latest in fabrics, colors and styles, the students have constructed garments which marked them as young Christian ladies of good taste and culture. 65
