Principal, Sister Brigetta The guiding principles observed in formulating the philosophy of Visitation High School are threefold, namely: existence of God, dignity and worth of the individual, man's place in society. The means of developing the principles of philosophy are through the educational program which aims: l. to organize all knowledge and information in proper perspective so that students may know and love God, the First Cause and Last End of of all creation, may know and love Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of mankindg and may know and love the Church which He has founded. 2. to integrate these principles into their lives so that habitual discipline of will and suitable Catholic attitudes of mind will result. 3. to develop such an appreciation of virtuous conduct as will cause students consistently to choose the good because it is the will of God. 4. to provide opportunities that will inspire students wih a desire to advance intellectually and to grow culturally and socially. an ap reciation of the beauty of God as re- 51 to stimulate and encourage in each student flecte in human character, in nature, and in the creative works of man. 6. to cultivate in boys and girls a desire to know and a determination to follow their God-given vocations. to impart a sincere veneration for the dignity of tge family and the sanctity of the marriage bon . to infuse a respect for Divinely appointed authority as inherent in our democratic govern- ment and our American way of life. to provide exceptional opportunities in a well rounded physical education program that pro- motes healthful, wholesome recreational op- portunities. to develop desirable attitudes, social and moral, worthy ideals and intelligent participa- tion in society. to provide for good use of leisure time by developing desirable leisure habits, encourage- ment in the development of the habit of reading and enioying books and periodicals of good quality and real value. to provide opportunities for leadership and to afford each student an opportunity to train for life in a democratic social state. to encourage active participation in matters of community and civic interest. to help each student to adapt himself socially, to teach the maxims of good social usage, and to develop poise, confidence, and a wholesome self-assurance. to provide guidance, both personal and voca- tional from the priests of the parish, from homeroom teachers acting as individual ad- visors who work in cooperation with the help of parents and principal.
