Non-Pictured Committees Admission Committee Duties: 15 To evaluate current admission standards of the college and to report to the Voting Body. 25 To establish each fall its admission policy and to submit the policy to the Voting Body for approval. 35 To review and to approve or disapprove applications for admission. 45 To review and approve or disapprove applications for financial aid and awards. Membership: Director of Admission, Dean of the College, and three faculty members. Members: Mr. Badger, Chairman, Dean Wilson, Dr. Sturm, Dr. Churukian, Dr. Heiberg. Athletic Committee Duties: 15To formulate policies governing athletics and to submit them to the Voting Body. 25 To guide and to supervise athletics according to policies approved by the voting Body and Administration and as established by the conference. 35 To develop and supervise policies for the college intramural program. 45 To approve intercollegiate athletic schedules. Membership: The Director of Athletics, Dean of Students, Comptroller, two other faculty members tone of whom shall be both chairman and faculty representative to the athletic conference5, and five students itwo of whom must not be active in intercollegiate athletics5. Members: Mr. Tucker, Chairman: Mr. Joseph, Dr. Keefer, Dean Wood, Mr. Forsyth, Mark McAloose, Brian Magee, Tom Tusing, David Smith, Jim Fitzpatrick. Community Review Board Duties: 15 To review all proceedings of the Community Arbitration Board. 25 To organize itself, select its own chairman, and establish its own procedures. 35 To notify the President, the Dean of the College, and the Dean of Students of action taken in all cases. Appeal: Subject only to the right of appeal to authorized bodies beyond the jurisdiction of the College, the decision of the C.Ft.B. shall be final. Membership: Two full-time teaching faculty members appointed for staggered terms of at least two years. Faculty members are appointed directly by the President of the College. Two students appointed by the Student Executive Council as provided in the Student Constitution. Members: Dr. Ferreri, Dr. Graf, Larry Bolt, Linda Flhodenhiser. Committee on Academic Standing Duties: 15 To implement the academic retention policy. 25 To act on petitions for readmission. 35 To act on cases of academic dishonesty referred to it. Membership: Registrar, Chairman: Dean of the College, Dean of Students, two faculty members, and three students. Students' International Meditation Society Purpose: The purpose of this organization is to make available to the students and faculty of Virginia Wesleyan the principles of the science of Creative Intelligence and the practical aspects of S.C.l., Transcendental Meditation. Criteria for membership: Membership is open to all students and faculty of Virginia Wesleyan who are practicing Transcendental Meditation. Student Virginia Education Association Purpose: To give students the opportunity to explore all aspects of education, and to acquaint students with the ethics, services, and accomplishments of the Virginia and National Education Associations. Criteria for membership: Any student who is preparing for a career in education and attends Virginia Wesleyan College. Upsilon Sigma Colony of Sigma Nu Purpose: The purpose of this organization is to tie together a group of people in order to help each other through the qualities of truth, love, and honor. We seek to promote and aid the community about us. The ideals and goal of our fraternity are to encourage good will and understanding among ourselves and those about us. Criteria for membership: Candidates for membership shall 11 be male, 21 be in good standing with the college, Si accepted through a vote of the members. Special Achievement: During the school year 1973-74 the Upsilon Sigma Colony of Sigma Nu became the first national fraternity on the VWC campus. - Virginia Wesleyan Historical Society Purpose: The purpose of the society is to heighten the study of history, encourage interpretive thought, and increase student participation in school and community. Criteria for membership: Since all students at this institution must have six hours of history, the membership is open to the whole of the Student Body. Virginia Wesleyan Newspaper, TRANSCRIPT Purpose: We intend to publish regularly, to provide the Student Body with a reliable source of com- munication. ln addition, our purpose is to inform and to influence the students of Virginia Wesleyan to action. tTo a small extent we also provide amusementi Criteria for membership: Staff members must be able to work-hard, and to meet deadlines. 83 l l l

Community Arbitration Board Duties: 13 To organize itself, select its own chairman, and establish its own procedures. Procedures must, however, include at least those published in the Student Handbook, or its supplements. 23 To arbitrate promptly in all cases referred by the Residence Hall Councils or Community Relations Council. 33 To notify the President, Dean of College, and Dean of Students of action taken in all cases. Review: Actions of the C.A.B. taken under 42 above will be reviewed automatically by the Community Review Board. Membership: Dean of Students, one faculty member, and President of the Student Association. Members: Dean Wood, Mrs. Dykes, and Reed Brooks. Library Committee Duties: 13 To assist in the formulation of policies concerning the operation of the library. 23 To assist the Librarian in budget preparation and expenditure. 33 To advise the Librarian concerning library-faculty relationships. Membership: Librarian, five faculty members, and three students. Members: Mr. Magnuson, Chairmang Mrs. Matthews, Mr. Anderson, Ms. Sullivan, Ms. Stenhouse, Mr. Nicholson, Jay Secor, Trina Secor, Rick Higgins. Publications Committee Duties: 13 To develop principles of operation for all publications edited by students. 23 To advise concerning the operation of these publications, but not to censor them. 33 To decide upon a method for selecting editors and a chief photographer each year and to effect this selection. 43 To distribute budget allotment among the various publishing enterprises. 53 To develop procedures for the effective financial operation of the publications. 63 To maintain both freedom of expression and professional standards of journalism. Members of the Publications Committee do not control policy tor individual publications or accept personal responsibility for individual publications or for work published in them. Membership: Director of Public Relations, three faculty members tone of whom shall be chairman3, and four students. Editors of the student publications shall be ex-officio members without vote. Members: Mr. Guernsey, Chairman, Mr. Boyer, Dr. Clayton, Dr. Govoni, Cora Kralich, Joanne Romano, Tina Brudzinski, Bob Watkins.
