It has gn,%vn from a small plant of one huildmg, three professors, and a few students to its present comparatively large proportions. The first graduating class in IXS numhered twelve, while in 1933 the total number of degrees conferred was 358. In recognition of the purposes for which it was founded, the college has devoted its energies to education in agriculture, engineering, business, and applied sciences; and research connected therewith. Its distinctive function is t« prepare for useful occupations, especially those which develop the natural resources of the State and add to its economic wealth. Its campus is the entire State, for pr.-ictically every city, town, and rural community is being reached through its extension service.
