Trp-4535, -4' Qf'gim.3,a,g,,5,5g1 X - 1. ia.: CU The Art Club has been involved in the problems of the Art Department as well as in providing a stimulating pivot point for creative students on campus. Under the leadership of Samuel Alex- ander, and with the efforts of Essordora Brown, the majors protested the inadequate facilities in the department. An art studio had been taken from the department and made into a reading room. After letters, petitions, and conferences, a verbal commitment to return the room was secured from President Russell. Other ac- tivities of this year include plans for a newsletter, annual lawn shows, a bi-weekly nostalgic series, a Homecoming car, and the an- nual Halloween Magic and Horror Show. Members of the Club pictured above are: Howard Green, Essordora Brown, Samuel Alexander, Robert Cox, Jacqueline Long, and Arthur Copeland.

Concert Choir The Virginia State College Concert Choir is one of the oldest organizations on the campus, and still retains its original educational purposes of promoting music appreciation and of train- ing future teachers and choral directors. However, the members are proud that, through the years, this purpose has been accompanied by a professional performance level that has earned the singers a reputation as one of the outstanding college choirs in the country. Their repertory includes works from all eras of music history, and the group takes pride in their ability to interpret music of all periods and styles with sympathetic understanding. In past years, the Concert Choir has made annual tours to northern and southern states along the Eastern seaboard. Rapport within the group is evident, as is the admiration of the group for their director. The recurring comments from listeners of the Concert Choir's apparent enthusiasm and pleasure in performing is perhaps a clue to their achievements, and if, indeed, music is the un- iversal language, that language cannot be spoken more clearly or more beautifully than by this dedicated group of young people.
