Concert Choir The Virginia State College Concert Choir is one of the oldest organizations on the campus, and still retains its original educational purposes of promoting music appreciation and of train- ing future teachers and choral directors. However, the members are proud that, through the years, this purpose has been accompanied by a professional performance level that has earned the singers a reputation as one of the outstanding college choirs in the country. Their repertory includes works from all eras of music history, and the group takes pride in their ability to interpret music of all periods and styles with sympathetic understanding. In past years, the Concert Choir has made annual tours to northern and southern states along the Eastern seaboard. Rapport within the group is evident, as is the admiration of the group for their director. The recurring comments from listeners of the Concert Choir's apparent enthusiasm and pleasure in performing is perhaps a clue to their achievements, and if, indeed, music is the un- iversal language, that language cannot be spoken more clearly or more beautifully than by this dedicated group of young people.
