The Virginia Military Institute is a state college organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and governed by a board of visitors consisting of fifteen members appointed by the Governor. Eleven members are selected from the state at large, two are ilrawn from non-resident alumni, and the remaining two are members ex ofKcio. At least ten of the appointed visitors must be alumni of the Institute. His Excellency, Albertis S. Harrison, Governor of Virginia, is Commander-in-Chief. During the year, the Board is required to meet at least once; however, it normally convenes four times, more often if the Superintendent deems it necessary. Mr. Edmund Pendleton, a graduate of the Institute in 1926, is the President of the Board of Visitors. Mr. Pendleton is the Vice President of the Pendleton Construction Company of Wj ' theville, Virginia.
